Reading list

The tanning experiment opens several doors. These are the publications encountered along the way.

Pigmentation and erections

The pigmentation pilot and the crossover study in men with psychogenic erectile dysfunction make a good pair. The abrupt change in research question makes those my starting pair; the historical account then widens the development story.

Read the animal experiments together

The male-mouse food-motivation experiment becomes more interesting beside the rat taste-aversion study. Their experimental settings prevent an easy merger of the results. The topical melanoma study in cells and mice deserves the same attention to its specific model.

Return to the reports involving people

The review of unregulated analogue use places the mole and melanoma reports in context and preserves the uncertainty over causation. For a particularly specific pigmentation observation, the oral-mucosa case report is worth the time. I return from these papers with less appetite for a tidy verdict and more curiosity about the differences between the findings.
